What is Modular Building?

Modular building is the method of designing and constructing a building so that it can be disassembled, transported to a remote location and reassembled.  Houses built at the Five Oaks Homes facility are constructed to the same national, regional, and local code standards as site-built houses and installed on permanent foundations prepared by others.  The construction of homes at our facility allows us greater quality control, easier access to materials, greater cost control, and more protection from the vagaries of weather.

Modular building typically requires a more rigorous design process than a comparable site-built house.  During our design and selection process, we examine each option for its effect on the short-term and long-term function and aesthetic quality of the house.  We give careful consideration to the location and connection of the house systems (plumbing, HVAC, electrical, voice and data, etc.).  Every significant design decision is examined in light of transportation capabilities and road restrictions in order to save the client time and money.
